Jewel Corner Unit

New to the site, below are a few pics of my corner tank. Most of the plants are fairly new (except large ones) or dont root at all as the fish seem to enjoy pulling them up constantly.

Considering getting an external pump as I hear these are much better, anyone know if it is much of a hassle to switch?
